Occupational Therapists

Our dysgraphia consultant, Cheri, has created two programs for the occupational therapist.  The first one is a one-hour webinar introducing the Types of Dysgraphia.  The webinar can be accessed at any time.  There is a fee to watch the video.  You will receive a continuing education credit supported by NBCOT.

The second is a self-study program that breaks down dysgraphia by type and provides a review of the neuroscience of reading and writing.  Each Type of Dysgraphia has categorized interventions strategies based on Motor Learning Theory and the Occupational Therapy Practice Framework.

This course is designed to encourage interaction with all disciplines on the IEP team.

Some of the features included in the course include:

  • Recommended assessments that provide the most comprehensive evaluation of dysgraphia
  • Fact sheets that can be shared with other members of the IEP team
  • Strategies to utilize therapeutic use of self to interact with students that increase their functional, social, and academic participation with writing skills.
  • Eight hours worth of video training
  • Additional research materials
  • Recommended assignments to improve understanding of assessments completed by other team members (DIBELS, IQ testing, assessments completed by SLPs, etc,)

Parents

You are welcome to access either course.  Please be advised that these courses were designed for the professionals on the IEP.  If you have some knowledge of the sensory-motor pathways terms you will be successful.  If you are new to the potential of your child having dysgraphia, the webinar will be helpful.  The self-study may be too difficult.

However, we do offer consultations for parents.
